Starry Night
April 5, 2010From the first time I saw SternLab’s use of embroidery with LED lights I was in love. And almost immediately I knew how I wanted to use them.
Thus, my version of Van Gogh’s Starry Night was born.
The finished quilt is 17 inches x 22 inches. It’s made from a variety of free cut batik applique. I free motion quilted with black, blue, white, and two shades of yellow thread.
The three LEDs, conductive thread, battery, and battery holder were from two LED sewing kits by SternLab
and sold at Maker Shed.
From start to finish this art quilt took me two months, but most of the time was spent first with procrastination and later with searching for yellow LED lights.
Here it is all lit up:
Wow, this is really awesome 🙂 You should take a video of it and put it up on youtube so people can see the true effect of the LED lighting. Is this more of a wall hanging or a bedspread?
by Kristine April 5, 2010 at 1:21 pmThanks Kristine! That’s a really great idea about a video, too – I will definitely have to do that.
It’s wall hanging size, but I would love to do a bigger bedspread version in the future 🙂
