I’m Still Here!

September 2, 2011

…. And I’m playing catch up….

And I’m married! For two and a half months now! Madness!

We couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out for the wedding:

Wedding party!

More catch up later!

Sur La Table

June 14, 2011

4 days until the wedding! Eek!

I could talk your ear off about the list of 58 things that Dave and I made that needs to be done, but that’s pretty boring.. and let’s be honest, if those things don’t get done, it won’t actually be the end of the world.. not even close.

A much more interesting topic is my bachelorette party! Haha. My wonderful MOH, Jess, threw me a cooking class bachelorette party at Sur La Table. (Side note: if you haven’t been to a Sur La Table be warned… that store is full of wonderful, amazing cooking things… but is very dangerous because it’s nearly impossible to leave without purchasing something).

The cooking class was SO MUCH FUN! Seriously, I’m already thinking of all the other classes I want to take there. Not only did we learn how to make delicious things and get to eat them, it was just a really fun, laid back party.

Here are some highlights (excuse the image quality, I forgot my camera and had to take pics on my phone):

My mom and Dave’s mom at the prep table.

Allison chopping candied pineapple.

Nat stirring the bread pudding.

Pat and Jess
Dave’s mom and Jess at the stove.

And the delicous food we made:

Crostini with Cranberry-Apple Chutney, Carmelized Shallots and Herbed Goat Cheese

Prosciutto-Wrapped Scallops with Balsamic Reduction

Thai Beef Skewers with Lemongrass-Mint Dipping Sauce

Bread Pudding Bites
Chocolate Chunk-Pecan Breaed Pudding Bites

Anyway, it was a really fun party and I can’t wait to make the food at home.. you know.. when I have free time again… after the wedding.. which is in four days! Eek!

August 30, 2010

Just a quick post today.

We recently celebrated my mom’s birthday and got her this delicious cake from Holiday Market in Royal Oak.

Also, happy late birthday to Susanna!

This is Susanna and a random man she bought a t-shirt from:
It was from the SOA protest in 2005, almost five years ago. (I can’t believe it’s been that long!)

Susanna lives in Massachusetts or I would have gladly gotten her a cake as well 😦

Deep Fried Cheeseburger

August 17, 2010

Last weekend, this week, and this coming weekend are Cheeseburger Festival in Caseville, MI.

We were fortunate enough to check it out on Saturday when Nat invited us to her cottage. Our weekend was messy, so we were only able to go up for Saturday (and not spend the night), but it still definitely worth it.

I could wax poetic about our time on the beach or how much fun it was to see everyone… but instead… I think I’ll just share this thought with you:

Deep Fried Cheeseburgers. That’s right… two burger patties with cheese and bacon between them, dipped in batter, and deep fried. Think donut with cheeseburger filling. I’m pretty sure I died a little just looking at it, but Dave and Jon were brave enough to split one:

What’s that? You need a closer view of the deep fried monstronsity? Ok… if you insist….

I think we all learned a valuable lesson here. You may like cheeseburgers and you may like deep fried things… but there is no reason to combine them.

Better Late Than Never (I hope!)

August 11, 2010

The passed week or so has been really busy. Family birthdays, finalizing wedding stuff (we have an awesome photographer now! Adam Sparkes), seeing friends from out of town (HI ANDY AND SUSANNA – THANKS FOR READING MY BLOG), and well, you get the picture.

So.. our Maker Faire pictures kinda got lost in the shuffle. We went to Maker Faire on Saturday, July 31st (ugh, now typing that out makes me realize how incredibly late on this I am). It was incredible! It was the first Maker Faire Detroit and was in the parking lot of Henry Ford (and a little bit inside, too).

Anyway, we went for the day with Jessica, Jess, Nat, and Dave F. Then later we went to a bbq at Jon and Diane’s house right by Henry Ford. It made for a long, but fun day.

And my personal faves – the guys from were there doing a Coke Zero and Mentos show!

August is my month for my The Bee in My Bonnet VQB. I’m already starting to get blocks back. I will post as soon as I have started putting them together – I’m really excited about how it will look!

Fourth of July Weekend

July 9, 2010

Oh man, I know I’ve been late on blogging a lot of things, but since the Fourth of July weekend was only last weekend… and it’s only Friday.. I feel like I’m not as late on this one. Maybe?

We had a great weekend. Adam and Anne were in town, so we had them over with Jeff, Ty, Jedire, Toma, Natalie, and her Dave for a bbq on Sunday. Dave pulled out his trusty camera and photo-documented most of it 🙂

And the real fun began when people started making trips down to the photo studio Dave cooked up in the basement.

Adam in an improvised cape….. and it suddenly felt like high school all over again 🙂

And in a moment of genius, someone said they felt like they were sitting for a school picture… and someone else suggested how awesome it would be to use those special school picture backdrops.. remember those ones with the lasers?

It’s “ask and you shall receive” apparently in our house, because Dave lovingly crafted these ultra special, school photographs:

That’s all for now. I’m hoping to finish a quilt soon… emphasis on “hoping” – but as soon as it’s done, I’ll post some pictures. Promise!
